Golf Cart Battery Self Help Guide

This guide serves to help you troubleshoot any potential issues you are experiencing with your Red Pole Golf Cart battery. Please try all of these steps before contacting your agent.

All our batteries are built with a BMS (Battery Management System) which is there  to protect the cells if the current drawn is too high. The battery will also shut down if it gets too hot, voltage gets too low or it detects an external short circuit.

Your Golf Cart Battery also has a built in sleeping mode which detects a period of inactivity which will shut the battery down if the battery is not in use for more than 5 days.

The steps are set out below to guide you on what to do when this happens.

Battery Shutdown

The battery may shut down immediately to protect itself if the current drawn is too high, this can happen when pushing the cart too hard when driving uphill fast.

Once this happens the battery can be reactivated by waiting 60 seconds and the battery will activate itself again.
The battery will also shut down if it gets too hot, voltage gets too low, or it detects an external short circuit.
The battery will activate itself again after 60 seconds.

If the battery does not reactivate itself you can try and connect the charger. The charger will then try and reactivate the battery.
The charger’s fan will come on when operational. If the fan does not come on and the charger is just making a clicking sound and the fan is not coming on then this method is not working.
Make sure you use the correct charger that corresponds with the voltage of the battery. (36V, 48V etc) 

Battery Sleep Mode

Your battery has a built in SLEEP mode which will activate if the battery is not in use for 5 days. The battery will then turn itself off. In order to re-activate you can switch the battery ON and OFF again.

Manual Shutdown for Long Term Storage

If storing the battery or not using it for more than 7 day then you can switch the battery off manually via the ON/OFF power button located on the side of the battery. This will prevent the battery from slowly draining over time.
